Sigil Calendar
What day is it? Are ye barmy? How does a fiend from Gehenna slide into Sigil and stack his hours up against the endless day of Mount Celestia? Do YE want to try to check the timekeeping of a Modron fresh off a portal from Mechanus? Her Ladyship herself doesn’t seem to give a brainrat’s tail about the time, other than that it keeps ticking. Everyone in Sigil just lets the days go by, unless you’re one of the addle-coved Guvners. - Kellsie Kaluzny, owner and proprietor of the Ubiquitous Wayfarer Inn.
Timekeeping in Sigil
- Sigil uses a 24-hour clock, with the morning being “Before Peak” (BP) and the afternoon being “Anti-Peak” (AP), reflecting “peak” being the brightest part of the day. The afternoon is as you’d expect: 2 PM = 2 AP. The morning counts backwards: 2 BP is two hours before peak, so 10 AM.
- Clocks are expensive so most people don’t sweat the details. “A week” could be anywhere from five to 10 days. There aren’t seasons in Sigil or on most of the Outer Planes, so the months are tied to the different planes around the “clock” of the Outer ring.
- Years are in relation to specific events, but even those are contested. If you’re a Prime coming out trying to meet up with a friend at Chirper’s Inn at 3 AP on the third day of the second week of the month of Revolvus, you’ll either be late, early, or laughed out of the bar. Most cutters in Sigil just say “See you when I see you.”
