Backstory

Pronounced “Grebo”.

Greebo was sent to Gehenna after his death for his trickery in life. He wandered the caverns of Khalas, avoiding the various creatures who lived there.

One day, he happened upon another Kobold. This Kobold was setting a trap “for a terrible fiend”. Greebo stated that he could catch the fiend with a much simpler trap than the complicated mess the other Kobold was setting up, and proceeded to do so.

The other Kobold, who introduced himself as Kurtl, challenged Greebo to a trap-off. They would each pick a section of the caverns of Khalas and set up a series of traps for the other. They would then walk through the different caverns and see who survived.

Greebo spent many long days working on his traps, building and rebuilding them as the caverns collapsed and reformed around him. Finally, he was finished, and went to inspect the work of Kurtl.

Greebo discovered that Kurtl had built nothing, and instead had sealed off the entrance, leaving Greebo to fend through his own traps and the dangers of the tunnels.

Despite this treachery, Greebo managed to escape his own traps and make his way to the surface. When he did, he found Kurtl there, slow clapping.

Kurtl revealed himself to be Kurtulmak, the god of the Kobolds, and granted Greebo his power as his divine emissary, leaving him to roam the planes of Gehenna, trapping and terrorizing its’ denizens.

Angelus and his friends threw him in the River Styx, causing his memories to be wiped, and his divine power to be (apparently) lost as well.

Angelus convinced him that they were somehow related, and Greebo joined up with the group. He also told Greebo his name was Grebo, and Grebo was glad to follow them.

He was gifted some dangerous and cursed equipment by someone in the Night Market, and upon return with the group to Sigil, was assigned as Dreri’s bodyguard by Angelus, a duty he has taken to rather too effectively.
