Recap - 2026-07-16

The priest, rage causing froth to form at the corners of his mouth, bellowed at Tag, “You will not escape punishment for what you did to me! To my people!” He lunged at Tag, golden wings unfurling from his back, and a spear in his hand.

His dogs transformed, becoming humanoids with the heads of hounds, with flaming swords drawn from scabbards, and threw themselves at Tag as well.

Seeing his master under attack, Cath lunged forward and dove into the knees of the priest, knocking him onto his back with a sickening thud. The priest’s eyes briefly rolled back into his head as he was stunned by the blow, and the group took full advantage.

Angelus dove onto him, slashing at him with his acheron blade.

Tag shot arrow after arrow into his archon guards.

Josiah pulled out his rope and began to cut it into ten equal pieces.

Kor picked up a couple of benches and chucked them at the archons, missing by inches.

Chibro stepped forward and implored the judge if they had permission to engage, and the judge offered to give them recompense if they could handle it non-lethally.

Chibro whirled around and began pumping lead into the archons.

The archons strike fear into Kor’s heart, their radiant light driving him back.

Hankin swings his mace and lands a strong hit, smashing the snout of an archon.

Over the hubbub of the fight, Chibro hears a commotion beginning in the next room over.

The group keeps the pressure on the priest and his guards, taking attacks but easily driving them back.

The harmonium guards step forward and attempt to restrain the priest, but fail to hold him down.

Angelus tries to run off after an archon, but the priest grabs him by the ankle and wounds him with a burst of radiant energy.

Angelus still manages to stagger away, getting in a few good blows with his divine smite on the archons.

As the battle continues on, the priest loses his concentration and the two beholder zombies he was holding onto burst through the side door. At the same time, the prisoner in the next room, a hag named Antsy Addy Bitterteeth, charged out of the room and cast a massive cold spell in the room, clearly targeting the judge but catching many others. The judge and the rest of the courtroom seem terrified to see her loose. She mauls the stenographer to death. His last scribbles show “…Bitterteeth is biting into my neck with her sharp tee–”

Chibro uses his stone rune and locks her in place, incapacitating her for the rest of the fight.

Josiah, Chibro and Tag work together to take the hag down, while Angelus and Kor wear down the Beholders and the priest.

The priest, recovering, paralyzes most of the group around him. Josiah focuses, gritting his teeth, wishing he could do something against the priest. To his surprise, the priest’s head explodes. He has a brief moment of wonder at his potentially latent psychic abilities, then sees Chibro blow the smoke off the tip of his shotgun from across the room.

The priest down, the archons lose their malice and turn to fight alongside the group.

With their help, and the help of Josiah’s five animated 10 foot ropes, manages to take out the beholders, taking significant damage in the process.

At one point, Hankin, confused by the archons behavior, accidentally hands one of them his hammer. It accepts it and uses it to attack the beholder.

Kor drives an archon headfirst into the beholder’s eye, killing it.

Hankin manages to turn one of the beholder zombies, driving it into the wall where the group makes short work of it.

Without missing a beat, the Harmonium guards begin dragging the bodies into the side room, while two more creatures are led in, one in manacles, and are placed at the defendant and prosecution desks, respectively.

Josiah, a little aghast at how blase they are being about the whole thing, stammers something to the judge. She shrugs and says, “The wheels of justice must grind duly on, blood or no.”

Chibro steps forward and declares that the judge owes him a favor, which she does not acknowledge, but she does have a lawmage bring Chibro an accounting of the great and varied sins of Bitterteeth. He feels contented in the fact that they took such an abhorrent figure out of the world.

Parth spent most of the time oscillating between wanting to help Josiah and being afraid of the archon’s flaming blades, ending up being locked outside when the lawmages locked the doors.

As they left the courtroom, the group were hailed by the archons. They apologized for their behavior, saying that they were summoned to help in the protection of a cleric of Torm, but that he must have put a hex or something on them to drive them to attack in such a way.

Between Chibro’s quick thinking of freezing the Hag, Hankin’s turning of a beholder, and the group’s quick and powerful actions against them, they were able to prevent too much loss of life.

The casualties were a handful of harmonium guards, a lawmage, and the stenographer, a young half-elf named Vol Volshol, who collected rare bottles from across the planes in his spare time, and was saving up with this current stenographer job to buy a very rare bottle used by the inhabitants of Asgard to bottle their Screaming Mead, and now will never be able to complete the collection due to his throat being torn out.
