Recap - 2025-12-18
You’re running, trying to get to the boat.
You see Angelus being carried between two Slaads, their long reptilian fingers wrapped tightly around his upper arms. Another two slaads following ahead and behind.
You see a blighted goat man, with sores and spores all over his body, marching behind.
You see Dreri desperately trying to scrape the mold out of her boat, distracted by the horror of it.
You see Brooze, the enormous Maelephant, watching with mild bemusement.
You see Tag, his eyes still bright even as his mind is temporarily addled.
Angelus, you are grappled by both Slaads. You put up a good fight, but they grabbed you with their immensely strong grip. You can attempt to free yourself again on your turn.
- The battle was pitched.
- Tag fought well despite his feeblemindedness.
- The Slaads showed images of their plane, among other frightening images and one word responses, and Angelus was able to push in and see the plane of Limbo, and something they called Chaos Matter.
- Josiah accidentally burned a Dusk Hag after she requested something from him. She attempted to cast phantasmal-killer on him, but failed.
- Dalgumok offered to join in for 2 soul coins, and helped defeat a Slaad, then left.
- The Slaads almost got Angelus to the Speakeasy, but the group managed to rescue him, with Josiah thunderwaving the last Slaad into the hallowed circle where Chamenal easily dispatched him.
- One of the Slaads was brought back as a spore servant when it died in the Bulazu’s mold circle.
- Three Hands of Havoc pried the tops off the crates, then jumped into the River Styx.
- They signaled to Chibro that this was his chance before they did that.
- Gobbie, through the power of Tyr and his unselfish heart, brought Angelus back to life (out of saving throws). Chibro and Tag tag teamed (hur hur) Pythagius and killed him, and the other one ran off. Chamenal cured Tag of his feeblemind with her healing touch, then cured his loneliness with a hug.
Chibro and Josiah went back to the boat to inspect, and on the way saw:
- Greebo chatting with a still relatively sloshed Togek (tentacled brain merchant).
- The three guys who were messing with your boat jump into the river styx.
- Dreri recovering from her frightened state and urging the group to get in the boat and leave.
- The crates’ lids were both removed, but nothing appears to have been tampered with.
- Tabi indicated that if anything was broken with the crates’ contents, you all would lose your bonus.
- Josiah inspected the crates and found that nothing appears to have been meddled with.
- You all stole Pythagius’ payment, which was two instances of chaos matter, the thing that makes up the Plane of Limbo. In mechanical terms, anyone who removes it from the case can roll an Intelligence check (DC 15) and attempt to cast the spell Fabricate. On a success, the spell succeeds. On a failure, the chaos matter remains inert, and the caster takes 2d6 psychic damage. On a critical failure, the chaos matter also forms into a statuette of the caster’s worst nightmare.
